Requirements to Race

• You must be at least 16 years old to drive a rental go kart
• Closed toed shoes are required
• Avoid loose fitted clothing and tie up long hair
• Headsocks must be worn underneath a rental helmet. (You can wear your own DOT approved helmet)

GoPro Motorplex – Best Go Karts Charlotte, NC

Hands down the most realistic go karting experience in Charlotte, NC is GoPro Motorplex. A real racing track with some of the most realistic rental go karts on the market.

Justin Marks and his buddies Michael McDowell and Max Papis worked together to build an epic go karting facility right in the epicenter of the NASCAR world.

No joke, these are the closest go karts you will get to actual racing go karts. Un governed 13 hp engines running full song around the Parma mocked go kart track.

Does it get any better? Nah, probably not.

The rental go karts are great for weekend trips with friends, bachelor or bachelorette parties, company outings and birthdays. The facilities are designed for entertaining, ensuring a great time for everyone involved.

Only drawback is you have to be at least 16 years old to drive. If you are under 18 you will need to have a legal guardian with you or sign the consent form and have it notarized.

What do you expect? These are racing machines!

Real Racing Go Karts Charlotte NC

GoPro Motorplex is not just a fancy rental go kart track. Some of the most prestigious races in the country. A track of this caliber will be sure to attract some of the most popular go karting series these days. USPKS, IAME USA and STARS Championship just to name a few.

Looking to get started in go kart racing?

If you are even relatively close to GoPro Motorplex, GO!

Stop out to the track and just watch at least. Talk to some of the racers, try a rental go kart and stop in the race shop. You can learn a lot about go kart racing by just talking to other racers.

I have yet to visit GoPro Motorplex and it makes me sad… very sad. I hope to stop down there soon and update you all on my experience and how much fun it was!

A place like K1 Speed is great for your next date. Speed, Food and Drinks… The perfect combination for a great date!

• Junior racers must be 48″ tall
• Adult racers must be 58″ tall
• Always be sure to secure long hair. Tie your hair up or tuck it in your collar.

K1 Speed – Best Indoor Go Karts Charlotte

K1 Speed is one of the best indoor go karting experiences in the country. With over 60 locations in the US, you can surely find one close to you!

What makes K1 Speed great are the electric go karts, the quality of the go karts, the tracks and the overall experience.

The go karts are top notch with 20-horsepower electric motors, pushing speeds of 45 MPH! Most people are blown away the first time you try an electric go kart. The instantaneous speed that is available is exhilarating!

K1 also offers the whole package. The whole package being that you can eat, party, and race all under one roof! The Paddock Lounge is a great place to stop for a bite to eat. And when you are finished racing you can indulge in a couple drinks.

3. Millbridge Speedway

Millbridge Speedway – Charlotte’s Premier Dirt Track

Charlotte is the NASCAR hub of the world. Most NASCAR teams are located in the Charlotte area. Therefore, there are a lot of driver’s and families that are involved with NASCAR in the vicinity of Millbridge Speedway.

Millbridge might seem like a hole in the wall backwoods dirt track, but it is much more than that. This track is home to so many racers and for good reason. The exciting short track is a family-based racing location for all types of series.

You can race anything from box stock go karts to sprint cars. Oh yea, the heavy hitters. The likes of Kyle Larson, Christopehr Bell and the newcomer all stars like Brexton Busch. It really is an exciting time at Millbridge Speedway.

Dirt racing on this level is the foundation and building blocks to your racing career. You can learn some really valuable lessons. You will also be surrounding yourself with the best of the best. No better way to learn!

• Adult Racers must be at least 58″ tall. You must be capable to handle the speeds of an adult go kart to race one
• Youth Kart Racing – Must be at least 48″ tall and 15 years old
• Closed toed shoes are required
• Be sure to avoid loose and baggy clothing
• Be sure to tie up and secure long hair

Victory Lane Indoor Karting – Go Karts Charlotte

The closest go karts to Charlotte are at Victory Lane Indoor Karting. They are only 10-minutes from the epicenter of Charlotte. These are fast, fun and serious indoor go karts.

At Victory lane the go karts are built by Sodi. Sodi manufactures some of the best rental go karts in the world. They also build racing go karts as well. The adult go karts have a 270cc Honda 4-stroke go kart engine. While the youth go karts are equipped with 160cc engines.

You will easily go over 40+ mph in these go karts. There are three different tracks available to race on. There is the Blue track, which is more technical, Orange track which is a faster track and then there is a Super track which is a combination of the blue and orange track.

There is so much more to see and do at Victory Lane Indoor Karting. Once finished racing you can get some food and drinks at the Pit Road Bar & Grill. A full-service Bar with beer on tap, mixed drinks, food and more!

The Pit – Indoor Go Kart Racing Mooresville

Another great indoor go kart track is The Pit. Located north of Charlotte about 30 minutes. This is a great option for people that would not like to drive into the city to race.

These are not bumper cars. These are high speed indoor racing machines. These go karts will test your abilities and challenge you. They are built by Biz karts and will go over 45 MPH.

The Youth go karts are also high quality go karts built by Sodi. Everything you need to race these is available. The helmet, headsock, shoes and neck braces are all provided. You should wear your own closed toed shoes. If you forget they can rent you closed toed shoes.

Frankie’s of Charlotte – Best Family Go Karts

Most of the go karts in Charlotte are serious high speed racing machines. Frankie’s go karts are geared for a different speed… literally.

These go karts are more designed for family rentals and younger kids. Frankie’s is also one of the only ones offering a double seat go kart. This is great because if you have kids you know how bummed out, they will be when they don’t get to race.

They offer three tracks. Road Course, Slick Track and the Drifter. Each track has its unique qualities and challenges. The Drifter Go Karts peak my interest. High speeds sliding sideways sounds fun to me.

• Must be 36″- 48″ tall
• Also must be at least 3 years old

The Pro Track

• Must be at least 54″ tall
• Pro Karts on the Pro Track – Must be 16 years old and 60″ tall

Racers Track

• Must be 54″ tall

The Super Kart

• Must be 16 years old with a valid driver’s license to race

2 Seat Go Karts

• Must be 60″ tall
• Must be at least 16 years old to drive a passenger
• Passengers must be at least 36″ tall

A mall and go karts all in one. That’s a good bargaining chip! If we go shopping, then we get to race go karts. Use that leverage!

The Speedpark at Concord Mills has the most go karting options out of all Go Kart in Charlotte. They have go karts for young kids, old kids and go karts for old and young kids at the same time!
