K1 Speed – Go Karting San Francisco
Even if there were other tracks in San Francisco K1 is still the best. K1 Speed has become the premier indoor go karting experience nationwide.
They realized if you put a superior product on the track that actually challenges people’s driving abilities they will want to come back for more!
The go karts at K1 speed are fully electric and have some serious power. The electric motors produce 20-horsepower and push 45 miles per hour.
Most people have never experienced a go kart that can go that fast. When they finally let the go karts loose and people start to feel the speed all they want to do is smile.
Races last about 12 laps each so each session is around 10 minutes.
Safety at K1 Speed
Safety at K1 is priority.
If you act in an unsafe way you will be removed from the track.
What are unsafe actions? Well, there are accidents and then there are deliberate attempts to wreck people and cause harm.
This is a list of driving actions that should never be done on the track.
- Bumping
- Over driving the corner (driving too fast into the corner so you can’t make the turn)
- Spinning someone around
- T-bone
- Hitting the walls
- Driving the wrong way
- Swerving
- Waving arms and legs out of the go kart
Those are some. I’m sure there are people out there that have done worse!
There are safety protocols that K1 takes to ensure you stay safe while racing.
They require you to wear helmets and head socks (for sanitary purposes).
They also require closed toed shoes to protect your feet. Additionally long hair and baggy clothes are not allowed to prevent entanglement in the moving parts of the go kart (wheels, axles, tires)
You will buckle into a 5-point harness to keep your ass in the seat in case of a crash!
If you do happen to crash, which it happens, the walls are designed to absorb the majority of the impact so that shock is not transferred back to you.
Go karting is made a as safe as possible at K1 Speed. Race comfortably knowing that they engineered as many safety concerns out of go karting.
Food and Drink
Most people know what I am talking about when I say the snack stand at an amusement park or pop-up event.
Trash basically.
That is not the case at K1 Speed. The Paddock Lounge is a full-fledged restaurant offering actual meals and best yet… Beer.
San Francisco is a huge city with only one go karting track in the nearby area.
That is sad.
But I applaud K1 Speed for producing a product that allows the people of San Fran to enjoy some kart racing!
